Dr. Rich Berkowitz has been practicing in the Cleveland County area for over twenty years. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland and went on to college at the University of Maryland. He has a BS in human psychology and a doctorate in chiropractic from National University. After opening the clinic in May of 1996, Carolina Chiropractic Plus now employs four physicians. “We are extremely proud of what we have been able to build over the years and we are even more excited about our future. I was taught when I was extremely young about the importance of providing outstanding service and striving to exceed expectations…that is the cornerstone of every patient interaction. We continue to work hard in bringing the latest chiropractic technology along with a strong rehabilitation presence and over all wellness to Cleveland County and surrounding areas.”
Dr. Rich is an Active Supporting Member of the Boys and Girls Club of America and has been on the board for over 20 years. The Annual Golf Tournament has now been renamed The Rich Berkowitz Golf Classic. Dr. Rich is honored to have this annual tournament named after him. He is also a Financial Contributor to the Carolina Chiropractic Plus Human Performance Lab at Gardner Webb University a teaching and lab facility for the students of the Exercise Science Department at the University. Dr. Rich also is a past member and President of the Cleveland County Lions Club.
Dr. Berkowitz also takes great pride in his three kids Will, Jack and daughter Alyvia. Spending time with the family when not in the office is a priority for them. “We work very hard to set a good example for our children,” says Berkowitz “What they see us doing shapes their minds for the future, so it is important that what we preach every day in the office, we utilize in our daily lives. That means exercising together, eating well and drinking water, getting plenty of rest and of course, getting adjusted!”
“We have a very family-oriented wellness clinic that has developed as patients have learned the basic principles from improving their health and well being. The clinic has a strong foundation in treating musculoskeletal conditions. Patients present with a wide array of ailments, including headaches, diabetic neuropathy, neck pain, arm pain, lower back pain, leg pain (sciatica), disc syndromes (bulging and herniated discs) shoulder and knee pain. We feel it is extremely important to coach and educate our patients on these important principles. Dr. Brad Moffitt, DC
Dr. Brad Moffitt graduated from Kings Mtn. High School and went on to North Carolina State University where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Biology with a Minor in Environmental Science. He then attended Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri where he obtained his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree and a Masters in Sports Science and Rehabilitation.
Additionally, Dr. Brad Moffitt has a certification in Active Release Technique for the spine and upper extremity. He attended the 2011 Pan American games and worked in medical services to provide care to the athletes involved. He has also worked with several universities in Missouri including the University of Missouri, Missouri Baptist University and Lindenwood University to provide chiropractic care to their athletes as well. Dr. Moffitt is a member of the Bethlehem Church and loves to stay active within the community and loves spending time with his beautiful wife Brittany and dogs Saylor and Sadie! ”I want to be able to provide the community with a viable option to be able to conservatively manage musculoskeletal conditions that impact their everyday lives.”
Dr. Michael Begley, DC
Dr. Michael Begley is proud to serve Western North Carolina as a Doctor of Chiropractic and Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP). As a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, he understands not only the value of service to others, but also the importance of the continuous search for cutting-edge research, technology and treatment techniques as a means to help those with various chronic health conditions.
Following his tenure in the military, Dr. Begley went on to graduate with a doctoral degree and became a licensed chiropractic physician. He then helped to give back to the veterans of this country by practicing chiropractic medicine at three different VA hospitals throughout New York State. His hospital experience allowed him to help patients with an array of chronic neurological conditions to regain their health and functionality in a natural and effective way.
Dr. Begley has dedicated much of his time to researching and perfecting new and effective techniques that help patients with chronic conditions ranging from diabetes and digestive challenges, to thyroid and autoimmune problems. He also has undergone training from the prestigious Functional Medicine University, where he learned to utilize and interpret sophisticated laboratory testing for even the most challenging chronic health conditions.
He has been married to his wife, Meghan, for seven years. They can be found on the weekends hiking around any of North Carolina’s hiking trails or at the hockey rink. There are four Begley kids (so far!): Liana, George, Marcella, and Aliano.
Michelle Jones, Business Office Manager
Michelle graduated from Crest High School in 1999 and then later went back to school to get her Associates Degree in Medical Office. She has been with Carolina Chiropractic Plus since 2006 and now manages the business office and handles our financial consultations. She loves the amazing change chiropractic can have on our patient’s future and the difference she can see in their day to day life. She also loves the changes she has seen in her everyday life after becoming a patient of chiropractic and the more energy she and her husband now have… even after a long days work! Michelle enjoys going camping and spending time with family and friends at her happy place… the beach! She also looks forward to raising her newborn twins Willow and Mason!
Kimberly Stafford, Case Manager
Kimberly graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and then went on to Rowan Cabarrus Community College. She studied business management and bookkeeping. Kim is also x-ray certified through the NC Board of Examiners. Kim has been in chiropractic for over 20 years and has been with Carolina Chiropractic Plus since 2012. Kimberly is one of our case managers. She works with all of our new patients doing x-rays, exams, and consults. “I love that I get to help others get their lives back without drugs or surgeries,” says Kim. “I came across chiropractic after a car accident 22 years ago. I had two fractures in my neck, and I didn’t want to have surgery to fuse my vertebra together. My children have also received chiropractic care that has kept them healthy and happy”! When Kim is not working, she loves spending time with her fiancé Scott, her 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Kimberly is also always looking forward to her next relaxing trip to Charleston.
Tabitha Greene, Clinical Manager
Tabitha graduated with an Associates Degree in Science. She is also x-ray, pulse electromagnetic field, and k-laser certified. She has been with Carolina Chiropractic Plus since 2007. “The passion and certainty the Doctors and staff have are unparalleled and it is something I love being a part of.”Tabitha oversees the clinical team and ensures our patients are getting the clinical results they desire. She ensures every patient has a phenomenal experience! “I love what I do because I get the opportunity to teach our patients about the importance of chiropractic care. I also love coaching on how to be proactive about their health. When your passion is to help others, I can’t think of anything else I would rather be doing with my time.”When Tabitha started with Carolina Chiropractic Plus she didn’t have any aches or pains but did struggle with sleep and digestive issues. After 3 months of chiropractic care she no longer struggled with these issues. In her spare time Tabitha loves spending time with her family and being outdoors especially going to the beach as often as she can!
Wendy Deaton, Front Office Manager
Wendy graduated from Gaffney High School in 2002 and then went on to Regency Beauty Institute where she graduated in 2011. Wendy has 13 plus years of customer service and office administration. Wendy keeps our front desk running smoothly and has been with Carolina Chiropractic Plus since 2017. “I love being able to help people and make a difference in someone’s life. I love knowing everyone that walks through our door and treating them like one of my family members and getting them feeling better so they can spend more time with their families. Before I started at Carolina Chiropractic Plus I didn’t realize how important spinal health was. Now it is a top priority for me and my family! If I maintain my chiropractic care it will keep me active for my entire life.”When Wendy is not at work, she loves spending time with her husband Donnie and four girls Asia, Maddyn, Norah, and Elliette who keep Wendy busy with soccer and gymnastics.
